Personally I fish for anything that will take my bait..although if I know the Perch are actively hunting I will set up a spinning rod and go after them, sometimes this has been successful..last year I caught one weighing 4.8lb..and sometimes I catch chub..last Sunday i had Chub 2lb and 3lb on a spinner. The 5.1lb perch I caught today..I had actually seen it earlier chasing a Rudd I hooked, but it missed it..I set up my spinning rod but couldn't tempt it. Later on I caught a Gudgeon and the Perch grabbed it...accidental? Maybe as I wasn't actually after the Perch, but nothing ( not even your derogatory remarks ) can take away the pleasure I got from seeing that fish a PB for me..in my landing net. My advice would be to give it a go and see how you get on. Try the reel on the rod and see if it feels balanced. Do you think this will be suitable. I have a Daiwa TDR 3012 is this ok or should I look for something in the 4000 range ? Thanks for the advice ! I keep lobworms in a different way. Try this. I use a deep plastic box as the container (or a small childs plastic dustbin would do), drill small holes in the base for drainage, tear up strips of newspaper and soak them, squeeze out the excess water and fluff up the pulp you are left with. Place the paper in the box/bin up to about half way. Cover the wormery with a piece of hessian sack or ply and place in a shady part of the garden.
